This is the second-ever Daily Utah Chronicle pop culture round-up: for everything you missed this week in pop culture because you were too busy doing things that actually matter, like homework.
New York Fashion Week happened this week. To those of you who don’t know what New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is, do you even have an Internet connection? NYFW is a week-long event in New York where all the top designer brands show off their latest collections in runway shows across the city. Nothing too notable happened, except that model Candice Swanepoel fell during the Givenchy runway show. Being the graceful supermodel that she is, she got back up and laughed it off like a champ.

The second Republican Presidential Debate took place on Wednesday, Sept. 16. I’m not actually sure if this counts as pop culture, but there was a national Snapchat story about it, so let’s just say it counts. The most interesting moment of the debate came when Carly Fiorina finally got a chance to respond to Donald Trump’s insults on her appearance.

Steve Rannazzisi, star of FX’s “The League” admitted to lying about being in the World Trade Center on 9/11. He had previously said he was working for Merrill Lynch at the World Trade Center and escaped just after the first plane hit. It turns out that he never worked for Merrill Lynch and was, in fact, in a completely different part of New York when the attack occurred. He apologized in a series of tweets, but Buffalo Wild Wings will no longer be running commercials in which he is featured.
Disney released the trailer for the live action version of “The Jungle Book” and it looks amazing. Though this one is significantly darker than the original, there’s no doubt it will be just as amazing. It also features a star-studded cast, with Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken and Bill Murray, among others.

Justin Bieber threw a temper tantrum on the Today show. Bieber has been trying really hard to clean up his act recently, undoubtedly with help from his team of public relations professionals — I mean, we all know those tears at the VMAs were fake. He has stepped away from his past juvenile behavior and even gone so far as to issue a public apology about the way he’s behaved in the past. But how does he act when the cameras stop rolling? Well, we now know the answer to that because he thought the cameras stopped during his filming of a concert and subsequently started acting like a spoiled child once again. Good to have him back.
