Learning Abroad will have their second annual Global U Expo for students interested in international experiences.
The event will be held in the Union ballroom on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The expo gives students an opportunity to learn more about studying in a different country and to hear from students who have already had the experience.
Hannah Eisenberg, a senior in English and international studies and an employee in the Learning Abroad office, said this is an opportunity for students to “think globally” and to “connect with the global community.”
Some of the organizations attending include representatives from the U Asia campus, the Bennion Center, Scholarship Services and Career Services.
Returning students will also volunteer and help answer any questions about previous program experience. Eisenberg said there will be a session for returners to show research they did while abroad to give students an idea of what they can do while outside of the US.
In addition to those resources, there will be a scholarship and backpack drawing for participants who turn in a finished entry card.
Madeline Liston, a senior in marketing, said having tables with students who have been abroad are good resources for firsthand experience.
For students thinking about financing a trip, there will be a drawing at the expo for a scholarship. The Office for Global Engagement, departmental and external funding can be be found and applied for online. According to Learning Abroad’s website, the U offers over $220,000 in scholarships for students annually.
For those who do decide to participate in a learning abroad experience, start the process by attending a Learning Abroad 101 information session. Students determine their goal and classes they need and then can start an application to a certain program.
According to Learning Abroad there are over 500 programs in over 50 countries.
