Here’s your Daily Utah Chronicle pop culture round-up: for everything you missed this week in pop culture because you were too busy doing things that actually matter, like homework.
Balmain’s collection for H&M launched on Nov. 5, and it was sold out hours after launching. It was available both in stores and online. Shoppers camped out outside H&M stores across the country hoping to get a piece from the collection. In other words, if you’re on the lookout for heinously cheap designer clothing, you’re fresh out of luck.
The trailer for “Alice Through the Looking Glass” was released. The movie is a sequel to Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland.” The star studded cast includes returning actors such as Johnny Depp and Helen Bonham Carter as well as fresh faces like Alan Rickman.
Mickey Mouse’s predecessor was found in Britain. The long lost cartoon featured Walt Disney’s first cartoon creation, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald was featured in many Mickey Mouse cartoons, but this is the first time we are able to see him in his own clip. Here’s to the underdog! — umm, underrabbit?
A new “Harry Potter” movie was announced — but this time it’s a prequel. The movie is called “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and features Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. “Fantastic Beasts” is the first movie of what is set to be a trilogy. It will be released Nov. 18, 2016.
Twitter got rid of “favorites” and replaced them with “likes.” The iconic stars have been replaced by hearts. Twitter’s “favorites” have been around since Twitter was founded, so the move was a big one. In addition, favorites separated Twitter from every other social media, as everywhere else uses “likes.”
