Tuesday’s Q&A event with Mia McKenzie, activist and founder of the website Black Girls Dangerous, has been cancelled.
McKenzie cancelled last night after suddenly injuring her back, according to the Office for Equity and Diversity’s Facebook page. The announcement did not specify her condition. There are no alternative events scheduled to replace McKenzie’s speech.
The Q&A was the second major part of a week-long celebration in honor of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Additional events for the week include a performance by local spoken word group Truth Cypher, a panel discussion on what it means to stand in solidarity, a day of service and a keynote speech by rapper Talib Kweli.
