The day of love is almost upon us and with it comes the stress of figuring out what to wear, how to style your hair and what kind of makeup you want to model. Here are some suggestions to rock any look this V-day, even if your date consists of popcorn, a movie and your favorite pjs.
Staying in with the Girls
For this look, you want to keep it simple and natural, as you likely aren’t trying to impress anyone. Start with IT Cosmetics CC Cream, a lightweight balm which provides amazing coverage, despite not being foundation. Dab some setting powder, such as Laura Mercier’s, all over the face so it stays on through any tears you shed over cheesy rom-coms. Then, swipe on some lengthening mascara to make your eyes pop. To finish it out, add a touch of bronzer and highlighter to give your skin a warm glow. Personally, I like Bare Minerals Skinny Dip and Becca’s Champagne Pop. After the makeup, throw your hair into a top knot to complete the look.
Dinner Date with Friends
Bold lip color is the way to go for this look. Start with a medium coverage foundation such as Makeup Forever HD, which creates an even layer on your skin. Then apply concealer where needed, plus setting powder. Then you’ll want to apply some bronzer, blush and a touch of highlighter — blend this all together for a natural look. Swipe on mascara and move on to the lips. I recommend a deep burgundy red for your lipstick — preferably the liquid kind that can withstand dancing and eating the night away.
For your hair, create loose curls and brush out for a lived-in look.
Romantic Date with Your Partner
For this last look, you’ll want to look your best, especially if this is your first Valentine’s Day with your partner. Start with your favorite foundation, concealer and setting powder. You’ll want to then add bronzer, blush and highlight in the same way you would for the friend date. After that, work on a rich brown smokey eye with a pop of gold on the lid. After blending the colors, you’ll want to add a dab of the gold under your eyes with brown blended on the inner and outer corner of your lower lashline. For the lips, a classic blue-red lip is the way to go. One of my favorites is the Stila Beso Liquid Lipstick. For your hair, classic waves are the perfect look.
