HIP Talks Finals
HIP Talks is a speech contest sponsored by the Hinckley Institute here at the U. Students are encouraged to deliver two-minute talks on any topic, from humor to a compelling speech. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000, the runner-ups will receive $1,000 and the audience favorite will receive $1,000 as well. The final round will be held on April 20 at 5 p.m. in the Moot Courtroom at the S.J. Quinney College of Law.
“Straight Outta Compton”
ASUU is hosting another free film series, and this time they’re showing the award-winning film “Straight Outta Compton.” “Straight Outta Compton” is a biographical film released in 2015 that follows the life and times of Compton’s most popular hip-hop group: N.W.A. This movie will be playing at the Fort Douglas Post Theatre on April 20 at 7 p.m., free of charge.
Women’s Chorus and Uintah Elementary School Chorus
Director Dr. Jessica Napoles and graduate student Seth Pendergast will lead the Women’s Chorus and the Uintah Elementary School Chorus on Saturday, April 16 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. free of charge. This concert gives students the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of a large audience. This event will be held in the Thompson Chamber Music Hall in David Gardner Hall.
