The University of Utah Volleyball team is back in Salt Lake City this weekend to face on No. 2 Stanford on Friday Oct. 5 at 6 p.m and Cal on Sunday Oct. 7 at 2 p.m.
Utah’s last match against No. 13 Washington was their first Pac-12 victory so far this season.
Stanford is ranked No. 2 in the country and comes into this weekend’s match with a 12-1 record. Taking a look at the Utes history with Stanford, the Utes are 2-14 with the last victory being in 2016.
The Utes’ match Sunday night is against the Cal Bears. The Bears currently hold an overall record of 8-7 and are 0-4 in the Pac-12. Against the Bears, the Utes are 10-8, having won the last 4 matches.
Even though the Utah Volleyball team is a young team, they are working hard to have a successful and memorable season. They have been working well as a team, with the freshman and sophomores looking up to the upperclassmen for knowledge and advice to put into practice throughout this years season.
“It’s really nice, the upperclassmen have taken a lot of good advantages,” said Megan Yett, one of the freshman on the team. “They have been talking to us a lot, helping us out, telling us what to do. It’s been really awesome to have those upperclassmen tell us what to do and how this whole thing works.”
Both of these matches will be held at the Jon Huntsman Center. Students are allowed free entry for themselves and four guests for all home volleyball games. Students will need to present valid student ID at the door of the Huntsman Center for entry. All seating is general admission. Matches this weekend will also be live streamed on the Pac-12 website, along with live stats provided at www.UtahUtes.com.
