On Jan. 25, “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” cast member Meredith Marks hosted an event partnered with NephCure, an organization focused on furthering research and medical advancements for rare kidney diseases.
Marks and Jennifer Geisser, an NBC Universal executive vice president, answered my questions about the cause and its importance.
Geisser is apart of the Bravo community, but she is also on the board of directors at NephCure. Geisser joined the cause 2o years ago when her son was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome.
“When a mother hears there’s no cure for her son’s chronic kidney disease, they’ll do anything in their power and beyond to change that,” Geisser said.
When asked about the steps being taken through donations to NephCure, Geisser said, “We fund research for pharmaceutical companies and help researchers find cures.”
Since its founding in 2000, NephCure has raised more than $40 million for research and has developed over 50 new potential treatments that are being tested on patients.
Geisser says the ultimate goal of NephCure is to “raise awareness and to find a cure.”
