The ASUU Supreme Court announced Friday that students who voted for the Singh Ticket in the 2025 ASUU Election will be given the option to recast their vote after the ticket was found to have violated multiple election guidelines.
Nine allegations were filed against the Singh Ticket by four different plaintiffs: Aynaelyssya Thomas, the 2025 ASUU elections director, Jacob Bastian, candidate for attorney general, and the Rose and ABC Tickets. Of those nine allegations, the court unanimously found the Singh Ticket responsible for five.
“This grievance presented one of the more complex cases in recent ASUU elections history,” the court’s opinion reads. “The Court was tasked not only with evaluating multiple allegations but also with addressing them across complaints filed by several different parties.”
The upheld allegations include disrespect towards election officials, compelling or intimidating voters, spreading misleading information, noncompliance with the Elections Director and general disrespect for the election process.
According to the the court, the Singh Ticket was observed hovering and compelling voters as they completed their ballot in real-time.
“Encouraging voting is not a violation; remaining beside voters, observing their screens and influencing their choices while voting is,” the opinion reads.
The ticket was also found to have spread misleading information, specifically in their campaign promises to bring a ski shuttle to campus and reorganize ASUU funding to free up $600k for student organizations. Both of these proposals would require “administrative approval, interdepartmental coordination and financial restructuring beyond the Executive Branch’s constitutional control,” according to the opinion. The Court said this distinction was repeatedly lost in social media posts with statements like “free ski bus” and “you’ll get $600k freed.”
“This blurring of boundaries compromised the fundamental purpose of student elections, which is not only to generate engagement but to educate students on how their student government operates,” the Court wrote.
The Court also found that the ticket “sustained pattern of disrespect, dismissiveness and hostility directed towards the Elections Board” and when the Elections Director attempted to correct or guide the ticket, “the campaign’s responses were often dismissive, argumentative or selectively responsive.”
The Court placed two sanctions on the Singh Ticket following their findings. The first was that all students who voted for the Singh Ticket would be allowed to reconsider their vote. A revoting period will open for these students from 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 11. They can choose to leave their vote with the Singh Ticket, cast it for the Rose or ABC ticket instead, or remove their vote entirely.
In addition, Sunny Singh must write a formal letter of apology to the Elections Director and Elections Associate Director for his behavior during the election.
The Singh Ticket did not immediately respond to a request to comment.
The ticket was also found not responsible for four of the allegations levied against them. These included unauthorized support from Non-Registered Student Organizations, campaigning within the Marriott Library and residence halls and disrespect towards other candidates.
“Ultimately, while some behavior fell short of the aspirational standard of professionalism and mutual respect, the evidence did not demonstrate a clear or sustained pattern of disrespect” towards other candidates, the opinion states.
Candidates are not allowed to campaign during the revoting period, and students who take no action during the revoting period will have their original vote for the Singh Ticket remain unchanged. The results from this revote period will constitute the official, binding results for the 2025 ASUU Election.
In addition to her role as Elections Director, Aynaelyssya Thomas works on the investigative desk at the Chronicle. In the grievance process, she was acting strictly under her role as Elections Director and did not contribute to this article.

Didn’t the Singh ticket make a statement on February 25th on their instagram that clarified some of those allegations?
