Police Report: April Fool’s Prank Gets Messy in Parking Lot

U police received a report that someone had littered debris all over the Huntsman Center parking lot. Apparently, the mess was caused by a practical joker. Officers said someone had filled a car with packaging peanuts on April Fools' Day, and when the owner opened the car, the foam pieces flew into the lot.

One Bad Round Dooms Golfers to Fifth Place

Two superb rounds just weren't good enough for the U golf team at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational, which concluded Tuesday in Goodyear, Arizona. The Utes opened the tourney with a team score of 285 (-3) in the first round and carded a field-best 286 (-2) in the final round, but Utah sandwiched a round of 297 in between to finish with 858 strokes, good enough for a fifth-place finish out of 18 competing teams.

Editor: U communication teacher Beth Fratkin deserves the highest praise for taking such a diligent stand... wow...amazing. Sounds like something Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf, the Iraqi information minister, would say. It is obvious Fratkin does not appreciate how her precious freedoms came about.

Moran Eye Center to Get New, Bigger Home

The Moran Eye Center is making plans to build a new facility to the south of Primary Children's Hospital. The project is part of The Moran Eye Center Campaign for Vision, which began in 2000. "When we planned this center, we knew we'd be short of research space," said Randall Olsen, director of the center and chairman of the U Medical School's department of ophthalmology and visual sciences.
