Leaders Want to Cut Budget for Presenter’s Office in Half

If certain members of the Student Senate and General Assembly have their way, the Presenter's Office will lose nearly half of its budget to fund the fledgling college student councils. Humanities Sen. Sam Swenson and architecture General Assembly member Aaron Titus submitted a bill Monday that could add a provision to Redbook, the constitution and bylaws of the Associated Students of the University of Utah, guaranteeing the college student councils 18 percent of the ASUU budget.

Probable Cause Votes Could Sway Election

Although Impact won the presidential primary elections with 276 more votes than second-place contender Elevation, the 785 students who voted for Apathy and Probable Cause can still easily sway the outcome. "The primaries are no indicator of what's going to happen in the finals," said Bill Edwards, Impact presidential candidate, after learning he won the primary vote.

U’s Bowles Is Regional Gymnast of the Year

Senior Ute gymnast Shannon Bowles was named a co recipient of the 2002 North Central Region Gymnast of the Year Tuesday, sharing the award with Iowa's Alexis Maday. "It's exciting, an honor. It's always nice to be recognized like that," Bowles said. Bowles' climb to the Gymnast of the Year plateau is additionally exceptional considering her gymnastics future was once in jeopardy.

IOC Disapproves of Athens Security
