Letter to the Editor: Only Axson-Flynn Is to Blame

Editor: As a U student in the Actor Training Program, I am doubly sorry to hear that Christina Axson-Flynn and her lawyer Mr. McConkie are at it again. Not only does it turn an unwarranted eye of scrutiny toward the program that I love, but also it reinforces in the local psyche that all U students and even faculty are collectively anti-Mormon.

Utes Dance With Hoosiers Tonight

The Utah men's basketball team (21-8) has never lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament under coach Rick Majerus. Meanwhile, its first round NCAA opponent, the Indiana Hoosiers (20-11), were bounced in coach Mike Davis's first trip to the Dance last year by Kent State.

U Athletics Dept Named to U.S. News Honor Roll

Of the 321 schools that comprise the NCAA Division I, only 20 were selected by U.S. News and World Report for its "Honor Roll of College Sports." The U is one of them. It's back on the road again for the U softball team. At least the Utes are out of the snowy weather. After having its homestand with No. 2 Arizona canceled because of snow fall, the team is in Fullerton, Calif., to participate in the Kia Classic, hosted by Cal-State Fullerton.

Legacy Daily Cost Swells to $119,000

SALT LAKE CITY?The estimated cost of the delay in Legacy Highway construction has been hiked to $119,000 a day, but state officials say costs should be dropping soon. The state originally estimated the cost at $92,500 a day. With the arrival of more bills, the cost is now put at $119,000 per day, the Utah Department of Transportation said.

Representatives of Action Ministries International were told by an E Center security guard that they could not wear religious insignia or speak to people inside the venue.

Yugoslavia’s Name Officially Changed

BELGRADE, Yugoslavia?Serbia and Montenegro signed a historic accord Thursday to radically restructure their federation, dropping the name Yugoslavia and granting greater autonomy to prevent the country's final breakup. The agreement, reached by the European Union, was signed by Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica, Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and other Serbian and Montenegrin officials.
