Do Masochists Deserve the Pain?

December 5, 2001
Ever envisioned a 40 something, white bread, midwestern male hooked up with a leather-clad dominatrix who keeps a closet full of studded whips and handcuffs just for kicks and giggles? OK, I guess it is just me. It's not a constant vision, though; I only get that mental image when I'm thinking about Chicago Bulls coach Tim Floyd, mind you.

Men’s Hoops Trounced by ASU

December 5, 2001
The Utah men's basketball team's road woes continued in Phoenix Tuesday night, as the Utes (3-3) dropped to 0-2 on the road with a 71-62 loss to Arizona State (4 -2). Utah followed its formula from the loss at Alabama, as it started the game turnover prone and with cold shooting from the field.

December 5, 2001
The Daily Utah Chronicle is a great little newspaper?just ask anyone who works here. But seriously, the Chrony published one news article in particular that caught my attention last week, and I haven't been able to shake the idea of it since. Apparently, the mechanical engineering department is attempting to implement a program that integrates communication skills into the hard science curriculum.

December 5, 2001
A new study led by U researchers found that most cystic fibrosis patients did not live longer after receiving lung transplants. The findings showed that only the sickest transplant patients, those with less than a 30 percent expected five year survival rate, benefitted from a lung transplant.
