U Unimpressive in Win Over Colorado State

Although the Utah men's basketball team hit only three of its final 12 free throws, the Utes (16-3, 6-0 Mountian West Conference) preserved their 48th straight home conference victory with a 67-62 win over Colorado State (9-11, 1-5 MWC) Saturday night. U Women End Losing Streak

After losing three straight and six of its last eight, the U women's basketball team was in desperate need of someone to beat up on. It didn't matter if it was Sister Mary's of the Poor?the Utes just needed someone to take their frustrations out on. Nice to see you, San Diego State.

No. 1 Utah Gymnasts Fall at LSU

The return to No. 10 Louisiana State was supposed to mark the triumphant return by junior all everything Theresa Kulikowski. When the Utes visited Baton Rouge during the 2000 season, the 1999 NCAA all-around champion tore her ACL on vault. She received a medical hardship to retain her sophomore year, but Kulio hasn't vaulted since the incident.

Part of Field House Reserved for Media

If you're not planning to participate in the Winter Games or just leaving town altogether, you might consider working out during February. But exercise options will be more limited than usual because part of the Field House will be reserved for media during the Olympics.

U Students Create Polygamy Pin

What started as an enterprising and humorous venture has acquired a definite underground overtone. An entrepreneurial group of biology department students and employees came out with their own Olympic pin sometime last year. Referred to as the "Olympic Mormon Polygamy Pin," "Molympics Polygamy Pin," or "Polygamolympics Pin," the contraband souvenir is shaped like the 2002 Winter Games' crystal logo.

Skiers Can’t Catch a Break in Oly-Affected Season

The Olympics appear to be a considerable inconvenience if you're U ski coach Kevin Sweeney. U skiers' practice time has been cut due to Olympic venue construction and traffic congestion. Whereas the U would normally have five quality practice days per week, the team is lucky to get only two with all the Olympic mayhem.
