U Skiers Honored by RMISA

A pair of U skiers were honored by the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association for their strong starts to the 2002 season. Freshman Pierre Olsson garnered Men's Alpine Skier of the Week honors after capturing first place in the slalom and second place in the giant slalom at the Montana State Invitational, and following that up with a second-place finish in the slalom at the Nevada Invitational.

Last Saturday afternoon, the U women's basketball team let one get away. On Thursday night, the Utes never let it get anywhere close to that point. Less than a week removed from a triple-overtime loss to Colorado State, Utah responded with an emphatic 67-39 victory over the Air Force Falcons.

Student Accused of Murder at School

GRUNDY, Va.?The expelled law school student accused of killing his dean and two others in a campus shooting spree was so paranoid and prone to outbursts that at least one classmate said he saw the violence coming. At Thursday's arraignment on three counts of capital murder, Peter Odighizuwa, 43, told the judge he was sick and needed help.

WASHINGTON?The newly installed panel of White House bioethics advisers began work Thursday with a broad discussion of the value of human life and a promise to tackle the dicey subject of human cloning. The 18-member President's Council on Bioethics planned to address whether a ban on cloning should include research and medical treatments, or be limited to efforts to create a human being.
