Letter to the Editor: Students Have Right to Disagree

Editor: I recently read the article about the teaching assistant who made "offensive" comments concerning The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints which offended some students. I also read The Chronicle's house editorial concerning the issues. I must say, I disagree with both the students and your catering voice.

By and April 9, 2002
The U men's tennis team is undefeated at home. It has a perfect 7-0 record in Salt Lake City, and hopes to take advantage of that when it hosts three straight Mountain West Conference foes this week. At 12-8, 1-1 MWC, the Utes will not exactly be on their home courts, though, when they host BYU, San Diego State and UNLV this week at the Canyon Racquet Club near Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Students Sample: Did you vote in the Associated Students of the University of Utah elections? Why?

By and April 9, 2002
I didn't have any information about voting, and I didn't know how to do it. ASUU doesn't do things for international students, so voting's not as important as it is to American students. Thanat Wiriyapinit Freshman, Business I did not vote. Most of it is a big joke.

Anybody Interested in Buying My Used Gum?

By and April 9, 2002
My Tuesday afternoon consisted largely of trying to convince my work colleagues to buy my chewed-up wad of gum for a hundred bucks. Perhaps not the most productive couple of hours I've ever spent, but with graduation just a month away and my lucrative college journalism career about to end, the thought of unemployment and poverty led to the unorthodox would-be money making venture.

Baseball Only Splits Versus Mesa

By and April 9, 2002
After a close and emotional loss to BYU last weekend, it was almost to be expected that the U baseball team might have been a little drained for the midweek doubleheader against the Mesa State Mavericks, but what happened in the ninth inning of the first game was inexcusable.
