Nursing Students Become Volunteers

Sixteen first-semester U College of Nursing students have volunteered to head up Caring in Action projects. These projects get the students involved in a collaboration with organizations in the community outside of school, according to Sandy Taylor, spokeswoman for the college.

OB/GYN Dept 5th in Nation in NIH Funding

The department of obstetrics and gynecology is ranked fifth in the nation in research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). "We are delighted by and proud of our current standing," said Eli Adashi, professor and chair of the department. These grants total between $4 million and $5 million annually.

Letter to the Editor: Unreasonable Gun Phobias

Editor: Students attend the U for an education, but most don't even bother to educate themselves about guns, gun control, concealed weapon permits, or the gun debate before foaming at the mouth in anti-Second Amendment rhetoric. So it's time for an education.

Softball Completes Road Trip

In beginning conference play on the road, the U softball team was expecting to get where it thought it ought to be. The Utes came home .500. Battling San Diego State and UNLV last weekend, the Utes won one game and lost one game from each doubleheader. Against SDSU, the Aztecs came out roaring in the first game, downing the Utes 9-1 after six innings.
