Boundaries and Borders: Coloring Outside the Lines

The theme of this year's Women's Week is "Beyond Borders." When I was asked to write a guest editorial for this special section of The Daily Utah Chronicle, I decided I wanted it to be a kind of meditation on this theme. Coming off the nation's highest score of the season, it didn't really matter where the Utah gymnastics team was sent for NCAA Regionals, as long as it continued to peak heading into the postseason. But the Utes had to go somewhere, and it was announced Monday they were sent to a familiar setting in the West, despite coach Greg Marsden's idea that the U was going to be headed for Baton Rouge, La.

Baseball Wins Series With UNLV

March 25, 2002
"[Sunday's] game was the epitome of how this team has to play in order to become a factor in this conference," U baseball coach Tim Esmay said. The Utes won Sunday's game against UNLV, which was the last game of the series, 5-3. The game was headlined by an amazing performance by starting pitcher Mitch Maio, in what was just his third start of the season.
