Bad Record Doesn’t Equal a Bad Team

The U softball team started out with a pretty bad record. Prior to the Mountain West Conference regular season, the Utes posted an 8-26 record. That's a .235 winning percentage. To give you an idea of how poor that record is, the worst teams in the NBA this year were the Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors, as they both finished with 21-61 records.

Baseball Feeling Confident

Confidence has been an attribute the U baseball team has gained throughout each series. After starting the conference season by being swept by the New Mexico Lobos, the team now feels it can beat anyone, after taking two out of three from San Diego State. "The two best teams in the conference were playing in our series this weekend, and we came out on top," said U baseball coach Tim Esmay.

Track and Field Split Weekend at Pair of Meets

After a week of cancellations due to weather conditions, the U track and field team competed in two meets. The Idaho State Springfest, which pitted some solid teams such as BYU, Idaho State, Utah, and Southern Utah was where most of the team went, while a handful of athletes were sent to the Oregon Invitational.

The Ancestry GenetiKit, a suite of DNA tests aimed at helping clients confirm or rule out suspected relationships, fills in gaps in their pedigrees.

Motorcycle Gangs Brawl at Casino

LAUGHLIN, Nev.?Rival motorcycle gangs armed with guns and knives clashed on a crowded casino floor early Saturday, leaving three dead and at least 12 wounded as terrified gamblers ducked for cover. The shooting, the worst ever inside a Nevada casino, occurred during a weekend gathering of motorcycle groups, including the Mongols and Hells Angels.

Winds, Tornadoes Strike South States

NASHVILLE, Tenn.?Tornadoes battered parts of Tennessee and Kentucky on Sunday, destroying homes and sending people to hospitals. One man was killed when his home was destroyed by high winds. The tornados were part of a powerful storm system that swept across the Tennessee and Ohio valleys during the night with heavy rain, large hail and high wind.

Plane Chrashes Into Wasatch Mountain

SALT LAKE CITY?A small airplane crashed in heavy rain into Traverse Ridge in Draper on Saturday, killing one man. Sheriff's deputies returned to the site on Sunday to search for another person who may have been aboard the plane. Federal investigators also planned a visit.
