It seems like there is no end to cleaning up the garbage dumped on the U last year by the Associated Students of the University of Utah.

Margaret Price Carlston is a living heirloom of family, wisdom and the U8212;and her story starts more than 70 years ago on this very campus, when she became the U's first homecoming queen.

Robert Paul's letter to the editor ("Health care article ignorant," Sept. 22) is a great example of one of the biggest problems in the health care debates. Name-calling and alarmist threats are the focus instead of facts. Calling Whitney Fitts an "ignoramus" and threatening that "people like you" are going to destroy our Constitution is a response that I'd expect from a child, not an adult. Grow up and argue the facts!

Jay Wilgus, assistant dean of students and a Phi Delta Theta fraternity alumnus, said the Phi Delta Theta house on campus is being restructured in an effort to reinstate the organization as a chapter. The group returned to campus two years ago as a colony and is working to meet qualifications in order to gain chapter status.

With the Skatin' Utes' season set to begin Sept. 26, there is an atmosphere of anticipation and optimism at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. Now that practices are under way, the Utah men's ice hockey team is poised for improvement on a season in which it went 6-7 during Spring Semester.

Serving an internship in Washington, D.C., was an amazing opportunity. I went into the internship as a bit of a cynic, thinking a few aristocrats controlled the world, but I actually gained a tremendous amount of respect for the political process. I saw firsthand the work that gets done in a congressional office, from amendment write-ups to floor votes and the enormous amount of work our members of Congress put in.

The rule of law is a cornerstone of American democracy. The inalienable right of people to be viewed as innocent until proven guilty by the law's due process is essential to the freedoms that many of us take for granted. Last year, at the dawn of our nation's Independence Day, this ideal was shattered for D.J Bell.

She can play two instruments, is interested in politics and is considering a career as a foreign correspondent. Although Sarah Hibbert plays outside hitter for the Ute volleyball team, it's clear her interests go past the court.

The Utah women's soccer team will look to wrap up nonconference play this week, starting with a match against in-state rival Utah State. The Utes and Aggies will play the first neutral-site match in the rivalry's history tonight when they meet at Real Salt Lake's Rio Tinto Stadium. In its first year of operation, the 20,000-seat stadium has hosted not only the home matches of Real Salt Lake, but also the 2009 MLS All-Star Game and a United States World Cup Qualifier.

I understand, Ute nation. I was hoping for another undefeated, bowl-winning season for our Utes, too. We all wanted to bust into the BCS, again, and we're all disappointed. But let's step back and get some perspective on the whole thing before we toss this season out.
