Utes playing sharp in conference games

The Utes started conference play last week with consecutive wins against Air Force and San Diego State. The wins give them 16 straight victories against conference opponents dating back to last September. The last conference foe to deal Utah a defeat was Wyoming, in the second conference game of last season. The Utes have a chance to extend that streak to 17 when BYU invades Crimson Court on Friday at 7 p.m., for the first Deseret First Duel of the season.

Although the Utes couldn't escape Autzen Stadium with a win Saturday, they did escape relatively healthy. Both Caleb Schlauderaff and Matt Asiata went into Saturday's game listed as questionable and as game-time decisions. Both Schlauderaff and Asiata played Saturday, but Asiata struggled to find his rhythm, getting only 15 touches for 54 yards. Whether his shoulder affected his performance or not, Asiata8212;even less than 100 percent8212;will be ready to go this weekend.
