Early in the season, it seemed the Utah baseball team might miss this season's Mountain West Conference Tournament for the first time. Utah was 3-9 in the first half of conference play, losing five in extra innings. It would take something big for the Utes to get back into it mentally.

Valy Vardeny, a distinguished physics professor at the U, won the annual Rosenblatt Prize and accompanying $40,000 in funding from the Rosenblatt family, who years ago gave the U their home as a residence for future U presidents.

New inter-college biology minor approved
