Bonesmen celebrate 100 years

What began as a secret society at Yale University in 1832 is now celebrating its 100-year anniversary at the U. It is called the Skull and Bones Society.

Wellness is a work in progress

I believe there is an energy that connects us all. Like we are all riding on a pulse of life. Basically, I believe in karma. So it didn't surprise me at all when I received an e-mail Thursday from an old friend that I've never met.

I made my goal of running the 2009 Salt Lake City Marathon public last August. So far, finding time and motivation to train has been a journey in and of itself.

DeChristopher still under investigation

DeChristopher, a senior in economics, is being investigated by the U.S. Attorney's Office for placing fraudulent bids in a Bureau of Land Management auction in December. On Wednesday, DeChristopher read an article in the Deseret News that reported that U.S. Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar might review whether or not to pardon him, he said.

Other teams help give Utah a good name

It may be a bit early being Feb. 3 and all, but if things continue on this beaten path, the state of Utah could very well have four teams dancin' come March.

Red Rocks ranked first in country

Debt to society better repaid by rehabilitation

Although current youth centers aren't exactly ideal, these programs would be infinitely more effective than imprisonment among experienced adults. To be safe, to curb gang violence and to save at least one life in this scenario, Angilau and other youths like him should receive rehabilitation, not retribution.

New equipment for private clubs goes too far

What started as a piece of legislation designed to help the private club cause now appears to be imposing more restrictions than before. Moreover, if any version of the electronic ID scanner plan passes, these clubs would be forced to purchase the scanners on their own.

Raptors showcased at UMNH

Jennifer Hajj, education director for HawkWatch International, a nonprofit oranization, captivated a group of 40 children visiting the Utah Museum of Natural History with their parents Monday afternoon when she brought out Alaska, a grasshopper hawk, for students to see.
