Business school receives third Best of State Award

U students might like to say they are the best in the state, but Cameron Bailey has the award to prove it. Bailey received the Utah Best of State 2008 award for Outstanding College/University Student. "I'm quite honored and thankful for the award," Bailey said.

Volleyball looks forward to new season

Now that spring practices are behind, the U women's volleyball team is focusing on strength training and conditioning as it looks forward to the upcoming season. With several changes in the works, there is a lot for the team to look forward to. Nationally recognized blocker Emillie Toone will be making her return to the starting lineup after redshirting last season becauseof a knee injury.

Bryant shares court space with Jazz

It turns out, former Ute sharpshooter and team captain Johnnie Bryant has some basketball left to be played. A week ago, the Runnin' Utes' second-leading scorer from last season participated in a pre-draft workout for the Utah Jazz. The Jazz own the No. 23 pick in this year's draft, and the main attraction at the workout was Georgetown center and probable first-round pick Roy Hibbert.

Volunteers lead Special Olympics team to victory

Volunteer coaches from the U's Lowell Bennion Community Service Center led a team of Special Olympics athletes to the Utah Summer Games last weekend where they competed in track and field, cycling and soccer. The U team brought home 23 medals, and three members of the U team qualified for the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games that will be held in February.

For U track star Chelsea Shapard, all it took was one man who saw the potential she had to become a great track athlete. That man was David Yocum. Yocum was a family friend and the husband of Shapard's high school soccer coach.
