Utes two-step past UTEP

It wasn't the Big Dance, but the Runnin' Utes still managed to showcase their post-season moves as they two-stepped their way past UTEP in the opening round of the inaugural College Basketball Invitational. Luke Nevill scored 16 points, hauled in 12 rebounds and managed four assists as Utah beat the Miners 81-69, in El Paso, Texas, to hand UTEP just their third home loss of the season on Wednesday night.

Focus sweeps ASUU elections

The Focus Party won nearly every post in this year's Associated Students of the University of Utah elections. Patrick Reimherr and running mate Jon Hayes beat Spork Party candidates Graham Anderson and John Bowers in the race for student body president/vice president.

Men’s Hoops: To be continued (3/17)

The Runnin' Utes first season under head coach Jim Boylen isn't over yet. The U men's basketball team started their season a little earlier than most in preparation for an 12-day, six-game trip to Australia last August and it turns out the season will be extended a little longer than some expected.

Softball: Schedule thick with ranked opponents (3/14)

Softball is the name of the game in San Diego today as the Utes prepare to take on two nationally ranked clubs, a recently ranked squad and a previously ranked rival that's already beaten them once this season. Suffice it to say, the 12-10 Utes have their work carved out for them.

After the U gymnastics team had a week off before its meet with Oregon State, the team didn't look sharp and tied its season low score. Florida had a break before its meet this week and hopes for different results. No. 2 Utah visits No. 3 Florida tonight at the O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla.

Lacrosse: Utes defeat Westminster (3/14)

The No. 25 Utah men's lacrosse team proved that it's the best college team in the Salt Lake area by beating the Westminster Griffins 9-7 on Thursday. The game started off slow as both teams struggled to find their offensive forms. The first goal of the game came after 10 minutes had passed in the first quarter, when Danny Polityka scored from his knees after being pushed by a Westminster defenseman.

Gymnastics: Red Rocks swamped by Gators (3/17)

The No. 2-ranked Utah gymnastics team lost for the first time this season when No. 3 Florida defeated them 197.70-196.875 Friday in Gainesville, Fla. The Gators (8-2) fielded the top four all-around performers in the meet and five of the top six while Utah (10-1) was forced to play catch-up all night.

No love for the MWC

College basketball players often jump out of their seats and jubilantly hug everyone in sight when they learn where they're headed in the NCAA tournament. The U women's basketball team, however, responded with silence when it learned Monday afternoon that it was assigned a No. 8 seed and is headed to West Lafayette, Ind., to take on ninth-seeded Purdue on the Boilermakers' home court Sunday in the tournament's opening round.

Rolling Stone, Spin, Paste and AP Magazine have all dropped the band's name in the past few months, setting the hype machine at full force for the band's upcoming tour opening for Say Anything.
