Andy Warhol said, "In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes." This will mostly be accomplished by Google Maps' Street View option. Many people want to be famous, whether it be the hordes of people auditioning for "American Idol" or Cher, whose desperate attempts at clinging to fame are marked by the fact that she's had more farewell tours than most people have teeth.

Focus fined for early website posting

The Focus Party was fined $150 for posting its party's website before Saturday, when candidates running in student government elections were allowed to begin advertising for their campaigns. All candidates running in the Associated Students of the University of Utah elections were not to open websites or hang up posters before Saturday.

ASUU supports cheap birth control

The ASUU Senate passed a resolution Feb. 28 supporting Congress for access to low-cost birth control. The resolution was written in response to the 2005 Deficit Reduction Act, which slowed federal spending in Medicare and Medicaid and also cut out colleges and safety-net providers from supplying low-cost birth control.

Class teaches global leadership skills

The U's attempts to further internationalize its campus are seeping into the classroom with a new course called the International Leadership Academy being taught this spring. The three-credit class meets once a week and focuses on what it means to be a leader in the age of globalization.

Students to spend Spring Break in Utah’s backcountry

Backpacking and clearing trails in Utah's backcountry is one way U students can spend their spring break. Students not going on the U-sponsored Alternative Spring Break can still sign up for the trip Utah Backcountry Volunteers is offering in Zion's National Park in Southern Utah from March 16 to 22.

1. BYU (22-6, 11-2) Up next: Air Force 3/1 Get this: The Cougs were the leading non-ranked vote-getters in the ESPN/USA Today poll last week. Despite a loss Saturday at SDSU, BYU still jumped into the rankings this week at No. 25. Either nobody is paying attention to what is going on in the MWC or it is finally getting the respect it deserves.
