Bigger not better with cars

By By Steven Warrick January 28, 2009

As consumers, we can have some affect on this trend both through feedback to the industry as well as our market decisions. If enough people let the manufacturers know that we do not think bigger is better, they will eventually listen.

Legislature shouldn’t wait to drown before tapping into Rainy Day Fund

January 28, 2009

Even the future state of the Rainy Day Fund has much to gain from investing in state programs now instead of waiting until they are underwater. The Legislature should adopt Huntsman's proposal to tap into a portion of the fund, ensuring budget cuts are rational and not abrupt.

Restructuring of 1300 East will increase congestion

By By Jeffrey Jenkins January 28, 2009

For students who travel on 1300 East, imagine commuting to campus with fewer lanes, shorter lights and a reduction in the speed limit. These three "improvements" proposed by the Salt Lake City Council will make your commute even more difficult than it already is.

By By Eric Evans January 28, 2009

Students should not turn away from the possibility of working while enrolled, despite modern difficulties of finding suitable employment. By By John Hannon January 27, 2009

Regardless of political or religious stances, let us always seek to respect sex by finding meaning within it. Fidelity, I'm sure, is a by-product of that understanding.

Feminism should embrace womanhood

By By Heather Berg January 26, 2009

Demand that society embrace womanhood and value it for what it is8212;a dire necessity the world is beginning to miss. You do not need to change who you are, but change how they think.

Partisanship shouldn’t stall democracy

By By Aaron Zundel January 26, 2009

t nearly every point in this nation's history, when people stand united things generally turn out for the better. When we are divided, things generally fall apart. If America wants to continue to thrive in the 21st century as it did during the 20th, we will need to work together.

Online texts a better option

By By Eric Evans January 26, 2009

The U bookstore should make eBooks available, or at least bring them to the awareness of students. Although not everyone will jump at the opportunity, those who do will transform from students seeking the convenience to boost their morale into happier, less weighed down and less stressed students of the future.
