Hinckley Institute Raises Funds in Pete Suazo’s Honor

It's been more than three months since state Sen. Pete Suazo was killed, but his legacy will continue, according to Ted Wilson, director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics. The institute of politics has begun to raise scholarship money for minority students at the U in Suazo's name.

Fine Arts Students Can Evaluate Profs with On-line Forms

Fine arts students can now tell their teachers they don't like the lectures, love the examinations or hate their grading policy via the Internet. The College of Fine Arts is the first U college to put teacher evaluations online. These evaluations are the same as those U students encounter in every class, but the College of Fine Arts now allows students to fill these out on their own time and from their own computers.

Letter to the Editor: Problem Growing Right Under Our Noses

Editor: There is a problem here at the U affecting us all, and it is growing right under our noses. Grass cultivation has gotten out of hand. This is not the kind of grass that is usually associated with wild college parties or hippies cruising in their Volkswagen buses, but the grass that decorates the U's landscaping and devours vast amounts of precious water.

Bowler Arrested in Union

Lane courtesy?A man was reportedly harassing people in the Union bowling alley. The police responded, but the suspect denied harassing anyone. The police ran a warrant check on him?he had an outstanding warrant. They arrested him and booked him into the county jail.

U May Close for Paralympic Ceremony

After the Olympics end and classes resume in March, Olympic involvement for the U will be far from over. Salt Lake City is still responsible to host the Paralympic Games, a series of competitive events among disabled athletes from around the world. Heritage Commons will still house athletes, and Rice-Eccles Stadium will host the Opening and Closing ceremonies.

USU Outlasts BYU in Five Games

In the first of two NCAA Volleyball Tournament regional matches Thursday night, Utah State played the spoiler in knocking off No. 19 BYU at Crimson Court. The Aggies beat the Cougars for the second time this year, winning a five-set thriller 30 26, 29-31, 30-23, 27-30, 16 14.
