By , , and November 29, 2001
His name is Rael, and he wants you to live forever. Immortality is not the only goal of the 28-year-old Raelian religion, named for its founder, but it is the primary motivation behind Clonaid?a Raelian sponsored organization dedicated to human cloning. The credentials of Clonaid scientists are questionable, as the organization has never published any research, but their intention to produce human clones has garnered the public's attention nonetheless.

Letter to the Editor: Watering Down the Regulation Facts

Editor: Unfortunately for the readers of The Daily Utah Chronicle, Michael Chidester's Nov. 28 opinion piece, " Navigating Environmental Waters With Local Action," on water regulation seemed to consist primarily of knee-jerk, right-wing ignorance and little else.

"I'll never jump more than six-tenths of an inch off the ground, so my game will resemble the new MJ's."

The Chronicle’s View: Showing Support at the Tournament

November 28, 2001
With University of Utah sports fans' attention attuned to the football team's drive toward a bowl game, and the return of coach Rick Majerus to the men's basketball team, it is no surprise that the volleyball program gets lost in the shuffle. That shouldn't be the case anymore.

Letter to the Editor: Manipulating Utah’s Olympic Look

Editor: I can just imagine the Jerusalem Olympics, where ham and cheese sandwiches should be within arms reach at every public gathering. At the Calcutta Olympics, large porterhouse steaks should be sold 24-7 at every booth. Birth control pills should be handed out as people go through security at the Rome Olympics.

Volleyball Had a Tough Road

November 28, 2001
Considering the adverse situations the University of Utah volleyball team was facing before the season, who would have thought that the team would have won its first conference title and be hosting NCAA Tournament matches in November? "We have broken so many barriers this year, and the program has come so far," Ute coach Beth Launiere said.
