Hurry up and wait

Cameron Beech is making sure all of his campaign workers are ready to make the big move. Joe Coccimiglio has his cell phone glued to his ear, commanding his troops.

Getting ‘More 4 U’

Pushing Forward

Back in their high school days, Rick Pehrson and Clayton McDonald were archrivals on their high school debate teams and in Sterling Scholar competitions. Now, Pehrson and McDonald have teamed up to run for ASUU office. With Pehrson's student government experience and McDonald's new perspectives, they said they will fix what needs to be changed in the Associated Students of the University of Utah, including building a student based platform and expanding the role of the senior class president.

Activate Party candidates hope to open up ASUU

More candidates, more voters?

In the next few weeks, hundreds of candidates and campaign workers will take over campus for student government elections. With four parties running in the Associated Students of the University of Utah elections, about 260 candidates are vying for positions as president, vice president and senior class president as well as positions in the Senate and General Assembly.

Survey to determine fee increase

Depending on student opinion, student fees could be increased by as much as $10 next year. The Associated Students of the University of Utah will be sending out a survey next Monday asking students whether they would support an increase in student fees to subsidize international study abroad programs and increase funding for the College of Fine Arts.

Beech found guilty of campaign violation

The ASUU Elections Committee unanimously ruled Activate Party presidential candidate Cameron Beech is guilty of violating election rules for disclosing campaign information to an "unaffiliated party" before posting day. A grievance was filed against Beech for divulging information through a memo to The Chronicle before the day candidates are allowed to approach outside students about elections, Feb.

Double teamed

Forward Party presidential candidate Rick Pehrson said he was shocked last Friday when he found out that one of his Senate candidates had filed with another party three days before. After committing to run with both the Forward and FUSE parties, Michel Barakat, former student advocacy director for the Associated Students of the University of Utah, filed his candidacy to run for Senate in the School of Medicine with the FUSE Party on Jan.
