As the second day of the Art Adamson Invitational comes to a close, several Utah swimmers have both qualified for the Olympic trials and made their FINA cuts en route to another solid day for Utah.
For the women, freshman Jordan Anderson had an incredible second day, as she now qualifies for the Olympic trails in the 400-meter IM (4:53.49). But, this wasn’t the only event the Utah women got their qualifying time. Junior Stina Colleou (1:10.97) and freshman Genevieve Robertson (1:11.15) both got their Olympic trial cuts Friday morning in the 100-meter breaststroke.
For the men, senior Bence Király touched in at a 1:50.82 in the 200-meter freestyle, getting the Olympic trial cut as well. Sophomore Jack Burton put up a good fight, just missing out of the top spot in the 100-meter breaststroke, but he didn’t walk away empty-handed. He too got his Olympic trial cut, touching at a 1:03.14.
Another outstanding performance came from freshman Daniel McArthur. He swam the 100-meter back on the second day, touching at a 56.98, receiving his Olympic trial cut, making it the sixth Olympic trial cut received this meet by the Utes.
In diving, junior Amanda Casillas placed third in the one-meter diving event, receiving the score of 267.10.
The last day of the meet will begin tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. with the 200-meter backstroke. Finals will begin at 6 p.m.
