U Men’s Tennis Duo Get Pair of Wins at Ariz St

Seniors Nicholas Yip and Corrie Scheepers of the Utah men’s tennis team got in a little bit of autumn action this past weekend when the pair headed to Tempe, Ariz., and competed at the Arizona State Invitational on Oct. 20 and 21.

Both Yip and Scheepers lost their opening-round matches (to Oliver Charroin and Pim Van Mele, each of Arizona State), won a pair of contests in the draw category and were subsequently eliminated when each suffered another loss.

It was just the second competition of the season for any men’s tennis athletes, as the entire team competed at the BYU Invitational on Oct. 3 to 6.

The Utes are not scheduled to compete again until the “spring” season-opener takes place against Utah State on Jan. 6.
