Parking Services Issues

By [email protected]

Dear Editor,This is to address a couple of issues that the Campus Shuttle/Parking Services should pay attention to:a) The change in campus shuttle schedule effective from 11/15/04 has inconvenienced a lot of students. As must be evident to most of us, a lot of students, faculty and staff have to commute between upper campus (Hospital) and lower campus (Park Bldg and the Union)everyday. The earlier schedule had a couple of buses (Yellow and Purple) that followed a direct route between the Hospital and Park bldg. These buses ensured that we were able to make our appointments without having to spend more than 20 minutes in the commute (which is critical when you just have a few minutes between some classes). The current schedule has the Green buses replace the Yellow ones but we lack a counterpart for the old Purple route. To add to the woe, some of the Red and Blue buses are erratic in following their current schedule. For instance, there was no Red bus at the Park bldg at 2:20PM today(11/17/04) which messed up the 2:45 class that many students had to get to. b) I understand that finding parking spots has always been a problem but could someone do something about the overcrowding of President’s Circle after 6 PM by the people trying to find parking outside Kingsbury or Gardner? Thanks,Vijay VishwanathGraduate Student Interdepartmental Program in Neuroscience
