Letter to the Editor: Field House is outdated, Gold’s Gym too expensive

Editor:

I would like to respond to an article condemning the new recreational facility that ASUU is thinking of funding. I think that a recreation center is a great idea for the U.

I have been down to the Field House many times at different times of the day and there are always people working out there.

I think that the arguments in favor of a rec center are many, and the arguments against it are few. Many students do not work out at the Field House simply because the equipment is outdated.

Also, the cost to add the new rec center would be tiny compared to the cost to buy a gym membership at Gold’s Gym or 24 Hour Fitness. I like the idea and I think that the benefits outweigh the costs.
