ASUU secures funding for waste audit

After two years of preparation, the student government secured $95,000 in a week for a waste audit to determine the future of a recycling program at the U.

“The campus recycling movement is really rolling forward,” said Patrick Barnes, chief of staff for the Associated Students University of Utah.

The audit will be performed in April, and it will give the U a proposed best plan for campus recycling, Barnes said.

After U President Michael Young and his cabinet approved the strategy for funding the audit, ASUU leaders met with each of the U’s senior vice presidents to confirm the monetary commitment and answer any questions.

“All four senior vice presidents were very interested and more than willing to pay their share,” Barnes said. “The U administration…is willing to do all it can to further students’ goals and meet their needs.”
