On a high note

By Sarah Anderson

Tomorrow the U School of Music’s Virtuoso Series brings acclaimed soprano Celena Shafer to Libby Gardner Concert Hall.

Shafer, a U graduate, has received high praises from critics and audiences across the country. Some readers may remember her as Britten in the Utah Opera’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

This rising opera star was the recipient of the 2002 ARIA Award, and she is returning to the U for her first recital at Libby Gardner Concert Hall, performing works by Debussy, Schoenberg, Quilter, Gershwin and others.
