A U student was arrested and booked in jail after her husband told police that she had slapped him during an argument.
Jennifer Bassett, an exercise and sport science major at the U, was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on Sunday for assaulting her husband, whose name was not released. According to the police report, Bassett told police that she and her husband were fighting and “she slapped him several times, but never in front of (their) child, because that is just wrong.” Bassett repeated that statement several times to police officers who came to the couple’s residence in the U’s West Village. There were no visible bruises on Bassett’s husband, according to the police report.
