Men: Colorado State 68, Wyoming 63 (3/12)

By Cody Brunner

LAS VEGAS–After going winless throughout the MWC regular season, the Rams followed the example set forth by the Colorado State women the day before and picked up their first conference win by beating Wyoming 68-63 in the play-in game.

As he has been for the majority of the season, Marcus Walker was dominant from the floor. The junior connected on nine of his 17 shots and finished with 22 points and five assists. Teammate Andre McFarland finished with 18 points of his own.

The two were both outdone by the Cowboys’ Brandon Ewing, who scored 29 points and went a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line. McFarland and Walker got the win though.

The Rams prize for winning the play-in game is a date with No. 1 BYU in the quarterfinal. The CSU women’s team beat No. 1 Utah on Wednesday, so all the Rams have to do is follow their example again.
