Women: New Mexico 59, BYU 41 (3/12)

By Cody Brunner

LAS VEGAS–The Lobos used a monster first half–outscoring BYU 33-17–to distance themselves from the hapless Cougars and ran away with an easy 18-point win.

New Mexico was led by Angela Hartill and Amy Beggin, who both scored 13 points. Brandi Kimble knocked down 12.

BYU’s Mallary Carling decided to try to keep the Cougs in it single-handedly, but her shot was off the mark all night long. Carling finished the game shooting 5-of-18, including 4-of-11 from behind the 3-point line, and finished with 14 points and six turnovers.

After the game, Lobo fans turned their eyes to the Utah-Colorado State matchup and cheered the Rams on to victory. They have beaten CSU by over 20 points both times the two teams have met.
