There has been a sharp increase in the number of scooters and motorcycles on campus. The high price of gas, the horrid parking problems at the U and students not being flush with cash makes scooters and motorcycles an attractive alternative to a car. Throw in lower maintenance costs, lower insurance costs and the “cool” factor and you are probably thinking about a scooter yourself.
I am a personal injury attorney who helps injured scooter and motorcycle riders. There is no substitute for correct training to keep yourself from having an accident on a scooter, because as Steven Warrick said in his column (“Eco-friendly scooters still pose safety risk,” Oct. 22) when you are in a crash on a scooter with a car, the scooter is going to lose.
