Police look for assault suspect

By Michael McFall

The U Police Department is looking for a sexual assault suspect.

On Monday between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., a vehicle with its flashers on was parked along Fort Douglas Boulevard near the Residence Halls, and U Police suspect the car was the location of a sexual assault. U Police did not confirm whether the victim was a student or a minor.

U Police received a call about the alleged crime Tuesday afternoon. A campus alert from Housing and Residential Education was sent out later that evening asking students to call U Police if they have any information.

The vehicle is described as an older four-door vehicle that is silver or light blue.

“This vehicle was reported as being seen in the area by the victim, and we would like to talk to the driver in hopes of providing more information,” said U Police Capt. Lynn Mitchell.

If anyone saw this vehicle at the time or sees it in the future, HRE and U Police want them to obtain the license plate number while remaining a safe distance away and contact U Police immediately at 801-585-2677.

HRE administration declined to provide further information.
