The U hockey team should take heart: When the Utah Jazz played its first season in Salt Lake City in 1979, it won just 29 percent of its games-and all it did was move to a new town. The Utes, on the other hand, started from scratch this fall. The team was defunct for three years and it took two ambitious hockey-lovers to get the Utes back on the ice.

This week’s episode starts out a little different. Johnny McKeon and Sascha Blume start out the show introducing Ol’ Ute Radio’s first intern, Keith Mcdonald. Sascha enjoys telling Johnny, “I told you so” as the boys recap their experiences and adventures filming a documentary in Montana. Sascha is mad he cannot return his Bear Mace and Johnny tells the story of a mishap on a canoe that lead to him losing his pants.

The news hour starts out with a story about California prisons that have been illegally sterilizing inmates under false pretenses. American Idol auditions return to Salt Lake City, Utah for the first time in five years. Potential candidates to audition for the show have been arriving as early as 4am and leave as late 11pm. Comedy Central has just announced the next celebrity roast will feature James Franco. Sascha reveals that he has no clue who James Franco is.

Longtime friend of Ol’ Ute Radio Trixie Tristan Whyte drops by the studio to lend her female perspective to this week’s, Comedy Corner Cubicle. The comedian’s featured this week were, Anjelah Johnson, Iliza Shlesinger, Natasha Leggero, Sarah Silverman and Whitney Cummings. Comedian Andy Gold calls into the studio and answers questions about life in New York City and why Andy started performing comedy. Andy explains the Stand up Comedy Competition, “The Rocky Mountain Laugh Off”. Andy Gold will be headlining Wiseguys Trolley Square July 12th and 13th.
