Top 5 Movie Dads

Fathers Day is upon us and we’re sure that YOUR dad is the best and all, but who is the best father figure in cinema? Here are some of the best.

1. Mufasa – The Lion King

Who wouldn’t want a dad with the deep powerful voice of James Earl Jones? He’s also a great example of tough love when Simba “deliberately disobeyed” him. Not to mention the fact that he sacrifices himself to save his son in one of the most emotional Disney scenes ever. The feels!

2. Chris Gardner – The Pursuit of Happyness

Making the ultimate sacrifice isn’t necessary to be a great dad. Based on a true story, Will Smith’s portrayal of Chris Gardner, a young father struggling to make ends meet, shows us that even sacrificing some time to shoot hoops with your kid is just as important.

3. Bryan Mills – Taken

One of the most important roles a father has is a protector. No other character exemplifies that role as much as Liam Neeson’s character in Taken when he transforms into a human wrecking ball of death as he seeks to rescue his daughter from a European sex-trafficking ring.

4. Carl Fredricksen – Up

You don’t need to be blood relatives to be a father to someone. Although Mr. Fredricksen never had the chance to have kids, he learns what it’s like to be a father as he goes on a wild adventure with a boy named Russell.

5. Darth Vader – Star Wars

And we’re back to James Earl Jones again. How can you not include the man who owns one of the most iconic lines in all of cinema, “Luke, I am your father!” So if you get in arguments with your dad, just remember that Luke and Vader literally cut each others’ limbs off, and still worked it out in the end.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!
