Students Show Gratitude to U Donors at Thank U Day

On Wednesday, students gathered in Marriott Plaza at the University of Utah for “Thank U Day.”  The event was an opportunity for students to write thank you notes to those who donate to the Alumni Association at the U. The donations go to scholarships, new buildings and, according to the Alumni Association, toward keeping tuition low.

A large portion of academics at the U is subsidized by private donations. As a result, the U is one of the least expensive schools in the Pac-12 network and is considered among the cheapest public universities in terms of in-state tuition.

One of the new buildings funded by donations is the Alumni House, which current U students will have access to when they graduate. Donations finance over $700,000 in scholarships, according to a statement posted at the “Thank U Day” table.

The Alumni Association will send the letters to the donors to show student appreciation.  For more information, visit the U’s Alumni Association’s website.
