Barron: Vote Biden to Fulfill the White Horse Prophecy
September 22, 2020
In the June 1976 edition of the Ensign Magazine, D. Michael Stewart, a historian at BYU, chronicled a prophecy said to have been made by Joseph Smith in 1840, “This nation will be on the verge of crumbling to pieces and … this people … shall bear the Constitution away from the very verge of destruction.” The “White Horse Prophecy” has traditionally been referenced whenever Mormon politicians have sought the presidency, but now it bears an uncanny resemblance to the current political situation. A recent article detailed both presidential campaigns’ efforts to court members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and it boldly claimed that the Mormon vote in Arizona and Nevada could end Donald Trump’s presidency. By voting for Joe Biden, members will not only be “actively involved in making [their] community the best possible place,” but they will also be acting in defense of the Constitution to fulfill the White Horse Prophecy.
The effects of climate change have been felt across the country from the wildfires along the west coast to an unprecedented hurricane season in the gulf coast. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have been displaced by this extreme weather, and since Trump does not believe in climate change, this number will only balloon under him. If current climate trends are allowed to continue, 200 million people will be displaced worldwide by 2050. Biden, however, has proposed a plan to curb climate change and protect American lives. Under Biden’s leadership, 2050 will mark the United States’ achievement of net-zero emissions — rather than having to face a global effort to resettle an overwhelming number of climate refugees. Environmental stewardship is a “moral imperative,” and electing a candidate with an ambitious but achievable plan for fighting climate change should be a priority for Mormon voters.
Another core priority of the Biden presidency will be addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon taking office, Biden will replace the patchwork of state-led pandemic responses with a federal strategy for testing, contact tracing and shoring up the medical supply chain. The Biden administration will also promote “clear, consistent, evidence-based” guidance presented to Americans by health officials, instead of politicians or policy advisors. In contrast, Trump dismantled the United States’ established pandemic response team and downplayed the impact of COVID-19. He also continues to ignore safety measures and continues putting American lives at risk. With nearly 200,000 Americans dead, members can care for their communities and country by voting for a leader who will address the pandemic instead of pretending it will disappear “like a miracle.”
Less than a month after taking office, Trump began his assault on the Constitution by declaring the media to be the “enemy of the people,” a phrase used by autocrats seeking to minimize dissent. This assault on the freedom of the press escalated — reporters and media outlets were punished for pieces deemed unflattering to the president. For almost four years, Trump has ignored our country’s laws and constitutional customs on countless occasions, including meddling in the Department of Justice for political gain and undercutting confidence in our elections. As Trump’s flagrant disregard for the Constitution has inflicted damage to our country’s foundational institutions, members must vote against his second term to preserve the freedoms, including religious freedoms, outlined in our nation’s founding document.
Ronna McDaniel, the Republican National Committee Chair and a member of the LDS Church, argues Trump is more attractive to Mormon voters now than in 2016 because of his record on religious issues. But as Trump is only ever religious for political gain, his so-called “religious record” does not hold up under any scrutiny. More than two years before Trump took office, church leadership denounced his call for a Muslim ban. A week after taking office, Trump enacted the Muslim Ban which has yet to be struck down by Congress or the Supreme Court. More recently, Trump drove peaceful protestors away from St. John’s Episcopal Church with tear gas and rubber bullets so he could pose with a Bible in front of the church. The Episcopal bishop of Washington, Right Reverend Mariann Budde, condemned Trump’s political photo-op as “abuse of sacred symbols.” Jesus repeatedly warned his followers to “beware of false prophets, who come … in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly … are ravening wolves.”
According to pollster Mike Noble, the deciding factor for many Mormons choosing between Trump and Biden is whether or not they can “stomach Trump’s erratic behavior.” No true disciple of Christ can stomach voting for a man who has downplayed crises at the cost of human lives and who has threatened democracy for personal gain, and enacted a religious travel ban. In defense of our neighbors and country, every eligible member of the church must vote for Biden. This action will veer our country away from the edge of destruction, fulfilling the White Horse Prophecy and preserving our own integrity.

Reading through these comments is very saddening. Some are spot on but many show how lost and uneducated our society is. If you use MSM for your political news source. Please don’t comment as if you have any creditability. It only embarrasses you and others that know you.

So how do Mormons resolve the conflict of voting for Joe and not supporting abortion. Joe supports abortion and is using our tax dollars to fund abortion worldwide. If you voted for Joe you should not be able to hold a temple recommend as you are directly and knowingly supporting abortion. Trump is not perfect but Joe is worse. You have all been duped.

Thank you Morgan, for your great courage (many are your critics) as well as your interesting insights here. What is even more interesting is the timing of your article which was published ‘several months’ before the raid on the capitol. And let us not forget the people whose lives were taken in like manner at Walmart in Texas because of the rhetoric of this (thank God) former president. Truly we live in a time when evil is being called good and vice versa; and the Latter Day Saints are obviously not immune from this spiritual phenomena..

Other questions I have about how Biden will reign: will he support the people’s right to own and use firearms? Would he support the formations of militias (militias being an armed and organized citizenry)? Would he support the people’s rights to not be arrested or harassed without sufficient evidence that was brought before a judge first? Would he refuse to lock citizens away in camps? How would he negotiate with China? Would he refuse to start more wars without an express call for it from the House, first? Would he be faithful is enforcing all the laws, including the laws concerning immigration? Would he refuse to enact extra regulations on businesses and on the citizens? Would he make sure that the various governmental agencies under him do to tyrannize the people?
All of these things and more are addressed in the Constitution and are under Biden’s area of responsibility. I will judge him by how well he does these things.

I would love to know what climate change, Covid-19, and criticizing liars has to do with the Constitution. I would also love to know how Biden plans on preserving the people’s right to peaceably assemble and practice their religion without governmental interference while the pandemic is going on. I also wonder if he will protect the people’s right to privacy, and to be secure from any unconstitutional searches and seizures.

Yes, I’m sure that God, and Joseph Smith would love us all to vote for a man who fully supports late term abortion, and mandatory injection with vaccines containing aborted fetal tissue, not to mention the astronomical amounts of heavy metals. As long as he makes everyone wear a mask, God won’t mind us supporting the mass murder of innocent children. Keep listening to mainstream media, they wouldn’t lie to you. All is well in Zion, right?
Jesse Dupree • Jan 1, 2021 at 2:21 am
What a deceptive piece of garbage, perhaps the writer is genuinely deceived herself but undoubtedly her piece works to deceive those who read it. In Romans 1 we are warned that many will “exchange the truth about God for a lie”. False teachers and Satan himself will come with a mask on, disguised as the Light and Truth, and sadly, many who were once believers will be deceived and turn away from true faith in Christ. No true Christian, who is not blinded/deceived by satan and/or his minions, could ever seriously consider voting for a “leftist” who believe in and perpetrate wholesale murder of innocent lives; that same sex marriage, referred to as an abomination by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is acceptable; who believe in globalism and a one-world order as Nimrod once sought to impose before being foiled by the God of Israel, etc., etc. Of course we knew these days would come and we must always remain vigilant, we must put on the whole armor of God so we’re impervious to satan’s fiery darts, his seeds of doubt, deception and temptation, and so we are not deceived by the likes of this writer and other false teachers like her. As Jesus himself stated … there shall arise false messiahs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived. Mark 13:22 and Matthew 24:24

Amen. Thank you for your comment. This writer needs to go back to the Bible and really truly read it. Spewing out her nonsense for believing in a false profit. History is important and how the word of the Lord has and is coming to light. Joe Biden and his actions, have me believing he is the fall of this nation. Look at our borders, Afghanistan now Russia. Stand up to this and pray it stops. She is a false prophet.

Buden is a known liar and plaverizee who was touted as a buffoon by his own party for many years. He has also enabled and contributed to the drug addiction and criminal behavior of his remaining son and the criminal behavior of his daughter, his brothers, and their wives. He also used his influence to secure an EeD for his poorly educated wife, who us also if dubious character. As if all of this is not enough, he has been selling his own nation out to our adversaries for oersonal financial gain and has indicated that he will continue to do so.
It’s laughable to suggest that he will have a better approach to the pandemic than did Trump. First of all, the author fails to understand that our nation is a Democratic Federal Republic, not a “democracy.” This means that each state has a government, as well, and the govering bodies of each state are charged with the responsibilityof of dealing with issues concerning their states on an individual basis.
There has never been a one size fits all solution to the pandemic and never will be. What works for states with densely populated metropolitan areas does not make sense for states with smaller population that are more spread out. To say a farmer out in WI separated by mikes from the nearest neighbor should be locked in his home and wear a mask. if he ever absolutely has to step outside is beyond ridiculous! However, despite the evidence that lockdowns have not even worked in large metropolitan areas. that’s the type of mandate Biden would install by executive fiat. It’s my unvarnished opinion that the intention of this type of mandate has mire to do with detour muddle class to install a banana republic pseudo oligarchy and give his beloved cash cow, China, and his hedonistic upper 1% cronies who are invested in her the economic edge.
Clearly, the author of this ridiculous article is a globalist who engages in the long disproven ideological Utopian fantasies created by Marx, who was himself a drunken, womanizing n’er do well who hypocritically failed to live up to his own standards and was never respected on a single day of his adult life. The article, itself, is most likely intended as an opiate for the masses who still believe in the Constitution that Biden and his administration actually despise and intend to shred, and it’s definitely not working on any but the must avid Democrat Kool-aid drinker!

Ok, if we go to war over a election that was won fair,
Then i believe all of our leaders should go out in front
Of the pack (including Trump, Gramm, McConnel and the other 104 republicans that want to overturn a legal election) can you not see that what you are doing is so immoral, do any of you have any integrity. You are the ones that made up this prophecy to work for you. Really in your heart how many of you have really read, really read the bible. Everything goes back to the bible… God save your souls

America, like South Africa and few other countries, is a rainbow country, it is only selfish ppl who choose not to acknowledge the true meaning of Democracy, who r criticizing Barron. It is lack of foresight and total ignorance to think that Trump wud ‘make America great again. America is great with its colourfulness… Trump is only a favorite to those who wish there were no ppl of color in America(which is a madman’s dream, those who r running away from a simple true reality… All men r born equal irrespective of all those other known aspect… We bleed red, we came thru the same passage, same emotions, etc. I salute Mitt. and Barron…. Humanity is the only aspect that makes ppl.. ppl not money… That’s what the two have shown… If Trump was chosen by God… God alone wud have sustained him… Simple truth abt the Power of God… He can do anything. Like it or not Biden has won and has saved the world from 4yrs of daily stress… Trump is evident that… Money cannot buy intelligence… Running the White House and managing people/business r 2 different things…. In business u can bully your way out of any situation, in politics those who put u in, will take u out… Trump and those who love him must have learnt a lesson. Biden is more human… He may have his weaknesses, he may be frailing but he managed to rescue America from Goliath…. God is Greatest….

@ Justin: Yes I used links from wikipedia, but this isn’t a scientific journal publication that necessitates links to primary sources, which often are poor at conveying big picture ideas and concepts to a broad audience. Primary sources to those wiki pages are listed at the bottom if you need to read into the minute details of each page. The reason I responded in the way I did was because this op-ed represents not just the opinion of an individual, but a whole ideological complex based on a shifting narrative. One such subject was that of the United Front Work Department. Most people are completely oblivious to what this organization is and what it is doing, and a wikipedia page (a well cited one at that) does a much better job at providing people with an overview of what something is rather than a highly technical U.S. Intelligence Service report. Also, I am not affiliated with the LDS faith, am not subject to the “blind obedience” that you mention and I frankly can’t speak for other comments claiming that this article has satanic motives… So, if there is a point I made that you disagree with or a source that you believe has incorrect information and should be challenged then I urge that you speak-up and make it be known.
Justin • Sep 29, 2020 at 9:31 am
The comments section in this article really highlights what is so infuriating about the LDS faith. The author of this article gives a well cited article detailing an interpretation of the prophecy, and in response people start calling them Satan. What’s your evidence? One comment used links from wikipedia as their “sources.” If you disagree with someone, just quietly note that to yourself and move on. Faith is personal to some people, and the LDS obsession with blind obedience to the hive mind is troubling to say the least. As a non-member, I really enjoyed seeing the perspective of someone in the church that had an original thought.
Andrew • Sep 26, 2020 at 1:09 pm
This entire article is just about trying to brainwash and reveals how dogmatic you and too many other people are – which will not sway my vote. Feels a little like listening to Cuomo on CNN or Tucker on FOX News… I don’t think you or they have any power to critically analyze or sway opinions. I think you brought up a point about the media though that can be seen in another light. In my opinion, journalism is very corrupt. I thought this long before hearing Trump say it. True, maybe Trump is a little over the top. But just because Trump called it out does not mean that it was any different than calling out the police (which I agree with) in the case of so many injustices behind George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, etc. Calling out the media = calling out the police.
Not all people believe that Trump killed 200,000 people. This is a pandemic, which kills people. Earthquakes are also catastrophes, but nobody places blame. We learn from them. We design more resilient buildings. In the future, the world will be more equipped and ready for pandemics – just like earthquakes. Although bad national leadership can play a part, personal decisions as well as local leadership can play a role too. Just as an example – and there are others – I believe that governor Cuomo and DeSantis had more pivotal roles and failed to do their part in their states. In their case, I believe that the fault for infection rates falls more on their heads than Trump – as well as Spring breakers early on… Again, personal decisions and local decisions played a larger part in my opinion. What could Biden have done differently that would have lessened infection rates? If Trump is to blame for deaths, how many? 10 percent? 90 percent? Somewhere in between? I definitely don’t think 100%.
Randy Smith • Sep 25, 2020 at 4:41 pm
Imagine accusing Trump of trying to tear down the constitution based only that he attacked the media while at the same time having numerous blog posts about how guns are bad. Sounds like someone doesn’t understand the constitution or support it as much as she is pretending to in her propaganda.
Everybody • Sep 25, 2020 at 3:57 pm
This is honestly one of the worst things I have read in the Chrony (and that is saying a lot). There are so many factual incorrect statements it is not even worth the time to try and identify them all. Your complete lack of understanding of the Constitution, politics, climate change and the current political climate make me scared for the future of this planet.

As a veteran of the U.S. Naval Expeditionary Force, an environmental scientist (a real one, who uses math, chemistry and physics to solve problems…), a student of current geopolitics and global and national security issues, I really can’t help myself from calling this out. There seems to be a big misconception due to the shifting narrative of the right and more so, the left during this election cycle. 1) Calling Biden-Harris the “white-horse” candidate administration would be laughable if so many people weren’t taking it so seriously. I won’t comment on career of Joe Biden except that he has done NOTHING notable except being HANDED Senate seats for his entire adult life (you can’t get a more “career/establishment politician” than Biden (go ahead and fact check away on all of this). In 1988 he suffered 2 brain aneurysms (https://bafound.org/recovery/potential-deficits/) which should be cause for alarm to anyone who isn’t in-line with Camala Harris’s RADICAL SOCIALIST agenda (which it seems like most Dems aren’t). 2) The Biden administration is full of people who, under close scrutiny, are soft or even sympathetic to the efforts of the United Front Work Department (for the love of god please read this if you don’t know what this is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Front_Work_Department) and the Chinese Communist Party. This is a big problem for not just the U.S., but for the whole world. The CCP is currently waging what it calls “unrestricted warfare” (please: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unrestricted_Warfare) AGAINST the U.S. and its allies through economic and political means, the entire world in the form of “debt trap imperialism”, and its own people (eg. the GENOCIDE of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xinjiang_re-education_camps). In case some are unaware, the communist party is still a threat (look at the hostile take-over of Hong Kong and its universities by CCP thugs that happened THIS YEAR) and is not an “over there” problem that only affects the Chinese people (a reminder of the last large Chinese protest against the CCP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Tiananmen_Square_protests) 3) The environment IS indeed in trouble and the rhetoric from the Trump administration, on its face, is disappointing to say the least… However, the answer to this problem (which is likely going to involve less U.S. and world economic growth for a sizable period and a restructuring (NOT destruction) of the industrial/capitalist/consumer based free market) will involve making the environment and climate change a non-partisan issue (which it used to be https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2014/06/02/support-for-the-clean-air-act-has-changed-a-lot-since-1970/) which can be largely be accomplished by removing the sentiment on the right (by and large by the right to stop allowing such sentiment in any of its representatives, even POTUS) that the environment and climate change are issues that only the Left should be concerned about. NOT by using the the climate change, science, or the environment as political platforms or devices (by their own virtue), to achieve an ultimate political agenda. While I can sit here and blast the Right for abandoning the issue and favoring big industry, I have even more criticism towards the left with all of the non-scientific social programming that they have been pumping at higher rates every election year since this rift began that have fueled undue argument over the reality of the situation. Also note, that America, as divided and entitled (yes most Americans are entitled, if you disagree please watch this and reassess your position in the world: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRuSS0iiFyo ) as we may be, we still have a system to initialize vast amounts of change in foreign and domestic arenas through “concentrated democratic action” or in other-words representative based ‘choice’. This is in contrast, of course, to a “revolutionary” Marxist, Socialist, NATIONAL SOCIALIST (aka Natzi/ Fascist) or Communist “totalitarian” regime that represents only the group who is currently in control and silences by coercion or force all others (which by the way, the CCP system is currently contributing much more to the hastening of the environmental crisis than the U.S. or any other nation). We ALL really need to rethink what it means to be an American. For better and for worse, we are major players on the world stage, and we owe it to ourselves and the rest of the world to assume the responsibility that comes with that and NOT allow organizations established and run by self-proclaimed “trained Marxists” (another way of essentially saying communist/socialist revolutionary) to tear us apart by slicing through our deepest wounds. Whatever side of the aisle you are on, don’t just take in the information being fed to you, go out of your way and learn what is really going on in the world. 3) Regarding covid-19, it sure is a threat to broad groups of people and is now regarded as 6x more deadly than influenza by the numbers, but it is good to know that the way covid-19 deaths are officially counted, is inclusive of other underlying causes that were likely to contribute to death (including, diabetes, asthma, heart attack, and in some cases, car accidents…). Also consider that the VAST majority of covid deaths are in elderly care homes and within vulnerable populations. So, considering these mitigating points, and the incalculable cost to the U.S. and global economy of a “viral-lockdown” the U.S./ “Trump” response to covid-19, particularly considering that the CCP attempted to cover up (yet another, including SARS-1, and MERS) one of its Novel Corona-viruses from its government sanctioned ‘wet-markets’ or wildlife markets, can you really blame the guy? Is there a decision he could have made that wouldn’t be attacked in some way? POTUS and the administration, regardless of when and how the response was conducted, would still be receiving some inflammatory response (no pun intended…) for the governments response to a novel virus in an election year. Considering how great things have been for the economy and inter-person interactions this year, (sarcasm) how can anyone with basic knowledge of viruses, the global and national economy, and general public health take seriously Biden’s proclamation that he would “shut down the country for as long as it takes” to see the end of COVID-19? This is LUDICROUS, and should be alarming to anyone hearing it. The ramifications of an action like that, even if we ignore the corrupt economics that such a paradigm has and would give rise to, would be far worse than Trump’s perceived bad response to COVID. -Bonus Point 4) I will say that the border wall effort and probable effect if ever completed is very disappointing, but we have an ignorant constituency here in the US that is largely (on both sides of the aisle) ignorant of how Mexico’s president has, now publicly as of 2019, surrendered territory and resources of the Mexican people to the drug and human trafficking cartel. We have to ask ourselves questions like, “Why would so many people support a president who proposes to build a big, expensive, and likely ineffective border wall?”, then once answered (that’s you “fact checkers”), perhaps begin a dialogue of how the U.S. might deal with such an issue that is a major problem for both the U.S. and Mexican citizens, up to and including direct intervention. Lets stop sitting around and shouting at each-other, re-evaluate what kind of world we really want to live in and create for our kids, and start promoting freedom and democracy at home and abroad more effectively and more responsibly than we have been doing!

@Daniel Wells the GOP spent the last 50+ years focusing on local elections to build their power with the result that they hold the majority of governing seats across the country even though they get a minority of the votes. If you want a viable alternative party candidate for president, you need to start building powerful coalitions at the local level. The GOP was masterful at it, take a page from their playbook. Having said that, I’m a huge supporter of voting your conscience and in a “normal” election year I’d say great! vote for Jorgensen. But I hope it’s obvious that this isn’t a normal year. Biden isn’t my first choice, but my conscience couldn’t take it if I didn’t try to do everything I could to vote out Trump, and that includes voting for Biden. Then on Nov. 5 (take Wednesday off, we’re going to need it) start fighting like hell for the policies you want.

I cannot tell you how wrong you are. First of all, Trump has done nothing but protect the constitution and help save our country. Biden and other leftists are seeking to destroy our constitution, the rights we have and our country. In the LDS religion and also other religions we are warned about wolves in sheep’s clothing. we are also told to look for the fruits of their works to tell if they are good or evil. The media, makes Biden and the Democratic party to be harmless. For example, with these pointless violent riots. Not only has the Democratic party ignored the fact that they have been violent riots for months, many members of the Democratic party have donated millions of dollars to them. Trump on the other hand, has condemned them from the start and has sought to put an end to them. In the LDS religion we are also taught about secret combinations in the book of Mormon. these are still going on today, if you have been keeping up on the information on Jeffery Epstein, you would clearly see that there are many Democratic party members that are involved within with his sex trafficking ring. to name one Bill Clinton. While the Democratic party is there to help in sex trafficking, Trump has been there to stop it. many children have been found, but what does the media focus on? focusing on calling violent riots, peaceful protests. from what I see, Trump is the obvious choice to run our country. Biden has been in Government for decades now, what makes you think he knows how to help our country. Trump has done more in 4 years than Biden has done in decades for our country. the only thing you can say Biden has done more for our country than Trump is hurt it. The Democratic party is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

This article’s most fundamental flaw is promoting Biden while failing to even mention the 3rd candidate that is available to every American this year: Jo Jorgensen, especially since she has, by far, the most consistent pro-science stances in every aspect.

My opinion, as well as most members of the Church, are 180 degrees different than your personal opinion. Joe will not be capable of completing 1 or 2 years if elected due to deteriorating health issues , but despite that issue, the Democratic party’s plan to turn America into a socialistic country (or worse, communistic) will destroy our republic. Voting for President Trump is a vote for prosperity and economic growth in America.
