Providing great opportunities for service and camaraderie.

By By RuthAnne Frost August 24, 2003
Next week, hundreds of students will walk from the Union building to 100 South to drink punch, make IV bags for Primary Children's Hospital and ride mechanical bulls. Why? Because next week is formal recruitment for the greek system. Fraternities and sororities have existed since the mid-1800s, and have continued to thrive through today.

Students prepare for U med school

August 24, 2003
A single line of 100 freshmen from the U School of Medicine in dresses and ties filed into Kingsbury Hall on Friday afternoon, carrying white lab coats in their left arms. The students-many of them smiling and waving to loved ones in the audience-were in a procession beginning the White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2007.

Digital Dilemma

By and August 24, 2003
Open the front door, turn left, fumble with the keys, drop the backpack, connect the computer to the Internet, start downloading and fall asleep. August 24, 2003
God rears his head in the strangest places. Like, for instance, Montgomery, Ala. Letter to the Editor: Headline: The Chronicle’s new look is impressive

By and August 24, 2003
Editor: Congratulations on your new look! The Chronicle now sticks out prominently and aggressively as a major presence on this campus jungle. For the first two days, I thought it was The Daily "Unifarce" rag from that institution down south, and refused to touch it, until I noticed that the editorial content still maintained the same integrity and girth that makes The Chronicle unique and famous-or infamous-however we wish to consider it.

Defining Ourselves with Our Pocketbooks

By By Brian Johnson August 24, 2003
One primary purpose for getting an education is to get a job. Many of us hope that this job will lead us to wealth. Maybe we don't say we want to be rich, but we do. Perhaps Jefferson's "pursuit of happiness" would be better stated as the "pursuit of wealth.

Special teams: A kick in the head

August 24, 2003
It's the one part of the team which usually ends up making Utah fans want to hurl when they see them on the field. The special teams. It's not so much the special teams as a whole that make fans cringe as much as it is just the placekicker. "Bryan Borreson is our kicker, and last year he wasn't a Division I kicker," first-year head coach Urban Meyer said.
