End of the Road for Work On U Hospital TRAX Line

Concrete was poured on June 11 for the last stretch of TRAX in front of Primary Children's Hospital. The year-long project to lay more than 16,000 feet of track is finally complete. The 40-person crew has dwindled to 20 as the final touches are made. All of the wire and electric work is expected to be finished by the end of June and testing will begin, said rail inspector Henry St.

Pride Day Sees 35,000; 120 from U

A record number of U students marched in Sunday's Pride Day Parade, highlighting the growing support of the gay community on campus, participants say. About 120 students-more than any year before-rode on the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center float or marched behind a Lesbian & Gay Student Union banner through downtown, according to Charles Milne, director of the LGBT Resource Center.

Hammons Sets Record in Sacramento

Penelope Jane Hammons, better known to students as "Nellie," is an emerging track star at the U. On Wednesday, Hammons broke her own school record in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Championship Meet in Sacramento, Calif. Though she failed to qualify for the next round of heats, finishing 20th overall, Hammons did succeed by running her event in a time of 2:06.
