Letter to the Editor: People Who Refuse to Be Loved

By and February 14, 2003
Editor: In response to Dan Thatcher's Feb. 13 column,"A 21st Century Letter Concerning Toleration," I must point out that Thatcher's liberalism is guilty of precisely those things for which he criticizes the rightist Bible-thumpers. His toleration is weak; he proposes toleration to everyone regardless of race, creed, etc.

By and February 14, 2003
The team responsible for the U men's basketball team's lone conference blemish this season comes to the Huntsman Center this weekend. Is there any question the Utes (18-4, 6-1 MWC) will be chomping at the bit for Saturday's game with San Diego State (12-8, 3-4)? The Utes attempt to repay the Aztecs for the Jan.

Spilled Milk: War Is Nothing but Death, Dog Tags And Destruction

"If the United States declares war on Iraq, it will cause great human suffering along with greater problems in the future," said Khouri, who spoke at a Middle East Center-organized lecture.

Letter to the Editor: Increasing Tuition Not a Big Deal

By and February 13, 2003
Editor: I have to admit that lately I have not been too concerned with the tuition hike that will ensue over the next several years. However, my sentiment changed with the protest announced at the Capitol today. I'm a little curious about where the rest of the funds would come from if the protest was successful--increased income taxes? Property taxes? I don't know.

Ute Softball Players Earn Weekly Awards

By and February 13, 2003
Last week U junior softball pitcher Heather Bowlin dominated the first games of the season. Although Bowlin was only 1-1 last week, she put up amazing numbers and was awarded with the Mountain West Softball Pitcher of the Week. Bowlin was robbed of a win after she left the game with a lead, but the relievers could not finish the game against Iowa State where she had a career-high seven strikeouts.
