Editor: I visited Commuter Services recently and the visit was not pleasant. After I said I was seeking information regarding a ticket, the cashier referred me to the appeals officer and pointed to a desk with a sign reading "APPEALS" hung above it. I asked the young man at the desk if he was the appeals officer.

Good thing it was just an exhibition game, because the U men's basketball team didn't look ready for the regular season Friday night. The Utes lost 92-86 in their first action of the year to the EA Sports All-Stars, a collection of former college players trying to make the pros.

Women Swimmers Notch First School Victory Over BYU

If the first couple of weekends are any indication, the Utah swimming and diving teams will be seeing plenty of success this season. In a face-off against rival BYU on Nov. 1, the women's team toppled the Cougars for the first time in school history, winning nine of 13 events to pull off the victory.

Editor: I read Alex Lee's column Nov. 1 column, "Spice Up Annual Election with November Madness," and I couldn't agree more! The truly sad thing is that a majority of eligible Americans choose not to vote in election years. My question is, why? If you put it into perspective, those that don't vote are letting others that do vote vote for them.

Editor: Recently, I attended the Associated Students of the University of Utah's Rock the Vote political fair held here at the university before the free Everclear concert. I noticed many candidates at tables with attractive signs who were trying to get my vote.
