Women’s Hoops Earns Split

November 19, 2001
The 25th-ranked Utah women's basketball team already has one fourth the number of losses that last year's team did, but only one 28th of the wins. So, that would put the Utes at 1-1.

Utes Allow Pair of TDs in Last Three Minutes of Game

November 19, 2001
PROVO?The Utah football team said that if it could control the clock with its power-running, ball-control offense, if it could keep BYU quarterback Brandon Doman contained in the pocket, if it could swarm Cougar running back Luke Staley, then it could knock off the eighth-ranked and undefeated Cougs. And the Utes did it all for the first 44 minutes, 13 seconds of Saturday's game.

Majerus Not Happy With U’s Poor Play

November 19, 2001
The final score read 74-55 in the Utah men's basketball team's season-opening win Friday. The Utes' game against NAIA opponent St. Francis was tied once in the early going at 2-2, but the Utes held a double-digit lead from the 10:37 mark in the first half until the game's end. So why was coach Rick Majerus so critical of his team following the win?

November 19, 2001
PROVO?The dream was over. After being beaten in the first two games, the University of Utah volleyball team was facing a wall that should have been too high to climb. Colorado State had not lost a game all tournament long and looked to continue the tournament sweep as it entered Game 3 of Saturday's championship matchup with the Utes.

Letter to the Editor: the Demands of Uncharitable Guests

Editor: As a student of the University of Utah, I find the parking situation intriguing. The main problem is that I (or any other student for that matter) am too worried about my classes to take time out of my schedule to lobby for my parking stall?a parking stall that I paid $120 this year to use.

Federal Regulations Don’t Stop Airline Turbulance

November 19, 2001
If someone tried carrying three sticks of dynamite through the airport, would security notice? Not in Salt Lake City. Since January, 1980, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has documented 4,160 security breaches at Salt Lake International Airport. The FAA routinely plants weapons and fake explosives in passenger bags, testing safety procedures. Too often the procedures fail, as in the case of three dynamite sticks and a ticking clock that passed through Southwest Airlines' security.
